Hi subscriber,
Welcome to the April issue of the HETI Headlines! It's been a wonderful month of connections and planning. We are continuing to update our website and want to draw your attention to some membership benefits:
  1. Membership profiles - every member has the opportunity to add their profile to our member's directory. This shows that you are a HETI member but also highlights the country you're from and the work you do. To update your membership profile, log into your HETI account and click 'My profile'
  2. You can now add events, training, webinars etc to the HETI calendar through your membership area. On the dashboard, click 'Add your event'.
  3. Organisation members can add 'sub-accounts' to their membership, allowing them to share access to the Members’ Area with your colleagues, board members and staff.
Depending on your level, you can add:
    Federation: 10 sub-accounts
    Organisation – Large: 8 sub-accounts
    Organisation – Medium: 5 sub-accounts
    Organisation – Small: 3 sub-accounts

To add sub-accounts, simply go to:
    Members’ Area → Subscriptions → Sub-accounts
  4. Member's badge - All members have access to a member's badge which shows your membership to HETI. This can be downloaded from the member's area by clicking into Resources > Promotional Material. You will also have received a html code for website embedding of the badge in your welcome email.
These are just some of the steps we're taking to make your membership more beneficial and easier to use. If you have any feedback, please let us know!

Connecting in Portugal

In April, VÄ›ra Lantelme-Faisan, HETI President, spent almost 2 weeks in Portugal, where she delivered two hands-on training courses in Lisbon and Porto. During her visit, she also met with HETI members and colleagues, strengthening professional connections within the Portuguese Equine Assisted Services community. She met with Helene Costa from EquiVida Associação in Lisbon and with the wonderful team of AEPM – Associação Equiterapêutica do Porto e Matosinhos. She was invited to visit a beautiful centre, APCB - Associação de Paralisia Cerebral de Braga, where she met Henrique Rodrigues, the president of SPSAE - the national Portuguese association. The visit highlighted growing interest in collaboration, education, and development of EAS in Portugal.

HETI(UK) Spring Forum report

The Spring Forum of HETI was held at Gul, The Bustard, in Wiltshire on Wednesday 8th April 2026.

The HETI office had helped with the calling of the meeting and the associated administration.

Some 37 people attended and the agenda was well received. This started with an introduction from the HETI committee about current work streams and opportunities. There was a talk from James Dwyer, Director of Ops Gul, on the changing environment for alternative provision of education in England and Wales, a talk on the therapeutic thoroughbreds, Anna Collins EASP, and opportunities for enquirers to ask questions and those who had already been providing for some time to share views and ideas.

After a delicious soup lunch there was a talk on diagnosis and complex cases from Dr Celia Grummitt (CEO Gul) showing how all practitioners needed to observe their participants behaviour to assist with confirming or questioning diagnoses.

A trip to the Gul Outdoor therapy centre and yard provided a sun drenched opportunity for some to explore the full Gul site, have a go at agility or try a bare back session for physical health.

HETI would like to extend our thanks to the team at GUL Outdoor Therapy for hosting this forum!

The next HETI(UK) Forum will be held in the Autumn and hosted by the Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy.

HETI Library

The HETI Library is now live. We have the information over 20 books regarding EAS on our website but would love to add more! This is open to anyone who has published a book or reference material about EAS. Please see the submission form below.

However, only books authored by individual HETI members or by organisations that are HETI members will receive additional visibility. This includes promotion on HETI’s social media channels, Newsletter and in the Global Gallop magazine, as well as the option to include a purchase link alongside the book description.
