Equine Assisted Approaches for Aboriginal Populations

Overview

This workshop is designed to enhance your skills in providing culturally appropriate Equine Assisted Services, Treatment, and Education to Indigenous individuals, families, and communities. Participants will gain valuable insights from Professor Coffin’s years of practice and research outcomes, exploring their significance and application within this sector.

Attendees will also learn the importance of engaging with research and how to effectively use a variety of tools for efficient data collection. These tools not only contribute to ongoing research but also improve practice outcomes, ensuring that services are impactful and culturally relevant. This workshop is an important step towards creating more inclusive, respectful, and effective equine-assisted programs for Aboriginal populations.

• Develop culturally relevant and effective approaches to engaging with Aboriginal populations across a variety of cohorts and settings.
• Increase understanding of current culturally sensitive research informing EA practice and enhancing outcomes.
• Access relevant tools to undertake research and/ or program evaluation in your own setting to inform practice with Indigenous clients.
