TERMINOLOGY

In 2021, the HETI Terminology task force conducted a survey to establish acceptable terms that HETI can use in all of its communications. The accepted terms were:
Equine Assisted Services (EAS)
Service Provider (SP)
Service User (SU)

Details about this survey can be found in this Press Release

Following this, the task force published a study based on the results of a global survey on terminology within Equine Assisted Services. This paper can be purchased here  or HETI members can download the paper for free here.

In 2024, the task force began work on the Equine Assisted Services Provider Matrix. This project is ongoing and we hope to have it released by July 2025. This matrix will be a free, self-reporting tool for all EAS providers to share the services they provide, the demographics they work with and the qualifications held among their team. This matrix aims to give a snapshot of services provided globally to all those involved in EAS including service users and researchers.

In 2025, the HETI Terminology task force began working on EAS Sector maps to enable countries to share what the EAS sector looks like for them and their culture. Below you will see the maps. If you are interested in submitting a map, please contact the HETI office – office@hetifederation.org.
